A meeting of the Durham & Middlefield Divisions of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Cooper-Atkins Corporation, 33 Reeds Gap Road, Middlefield.

The speaker will be Nancy Wyman, State Comptroller, who will discuss the State's role as "partner" to business and municipalities, the state of Connecticut's economy and her on-going efforts to help small businesses, municipalities and individuals acquire affordable and accessible health insurance coverage for their employees.
There will be town updates including:
Laura Francis, Durham First Selectwoman
Jon Brayshaw, Middlefield First Selectman
Susan Viccaro, Superintendent of Schools, Regional School District 13
Chamber President Larry McHugh will update members on special events and activities

• A meeting of the Durham & Middlefield Divisions of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Middlefield Community Center, 405 Main Street, Middlefield. The hosts will be Curtis Studio and Photographs.

• The speaker will be Keith Barbaria, Director of Technology & Engineering at NBC30 / WVIT and a National Association of Broadcasters representative. He will be discussing the digital television (DTV) transition, which will occur on February 17, 2009. By law, all full-power television stations nationwide must switch from the old method of transmitting TV signals known as analog to digital. DTV is an innovative new type of broadcasting technology that delivers movie-quality pictures, sound and more channels. Keith will explain the transition, why it is occurring, who will be affected and how to prepare yourself for the conversion.
