The Middlesex Chamber's legislative committee has been actively working with the area delegation and legislative leaders in anticipation of the start of the 2008 session.
We hosted both Senate President Don Williams and Speaker of the House Jim Amann at the Inn at Middletown. These interactive meetings allowed us to voice our support and concerns regarding different proposals being debated up in Hartford. It also helped us understand the perspectives each of the leaders has as the session progresses.
In January, we held our annual legislative breakfast at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell. This meeting gives us an opportunity to share our legislative agenda with the Middlesex County delegation and to learn their positions on various issues. Some of the topics discussed included workers compensation, health care, energy and the overall business climate in Middletown.
Our Chamber will send out legislative alerts throughout the session and we ask that you participate in the political process. It is important that our voices be heard so that area legislators will understand the impact different proposals will have on the business community.
