The Middletown Mentor Program provides volunteer mentors who are committed to spending quality time with children in grades 2-5 attending Middletown Public Schools. Ultimately, they provide inspiration, ambition, structure, and emotional stability in the lives of disadvantaged youth. The need exists for a trusted friend and role model who will commit to listening, sharing and understanding. It is important to note that all prospective mentor candidates must complete an applicant profile and background check.
Once accepted into the program, mentors participate in an informative training session.
All meetings with the mentor and child occurs on “School Grounds Only”, thereby providing all participants with a convenient and safeguarded way to spend time together. It is hoped the mentors will continue with their mentees from elementary school through high school. The generous financial support of several area businesses have been, without a doubt, a necessary factor in helping to ensure success and growth of the Middletown Mentor Program. The 2009/2010 Middletown Mentor Program Corporate Sponsors
include: Liberty Bank Foundation, Middletown Board of Education, MiddleOak, Seasons Federal Credit Union, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Connecticut Valley Hospital. The Middletown Mentor Program Core Committee is chaired by Cheryl Kraft.
