Connecticut Small Business Development Center
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a collaboration between the U.S. Small Business Administration, the University of Connecticut and public and private partners throughout Connecticut. The mission of SBDC is to promote and encourage the creation and growth of small business, by providing sound business advice through free, professional counseling, seminars, technical assistance and education for business owners and entrepreneurs, in one-on-one or group training environments, throughout Connecticut.

The Connecticut Tourism Industry Coalition is comprised of various association and industry-supporting organizations whose main goal is to affect change in the Connecticut tourism industry by addressing key legislative, regulatory and budgeting issues through public education.
Middletown Downtown Business District
Middletown Downtown Business District (DBD) is a special services district created in 2001 following a successful referendum of property owners located within the proposed district boundaries. The members are committed to supporting commerce, culture and community in the Downtown Business District and a Board of Commissioners oversees the operation of the district, which is funded by a property tax.
Middlesex County Revitalization Commission
The Middlesex County Revitalization Commission continues to address regional economic development issues with a focus on revitalizing the manufacturing and commercial districts of Middlesex County. MCRC is comprised of the top elected officials from Middlesex County’s cities and towns or their designees. These men and women work together to promote business development in the region by administering a Revolving Loan Fund that is designed create and retain jobs in Middlesex County. MCRC funds provide assistance with the purchase and or renovation of an owner-occupied commercial or industrial building, the purchase of equipment, or the purchase of inventory, and can greatly enhance existing working capital.
The Middlesex County Substance Abuse Action Council (MCSAAC)
MCSAAC is a public-private partnership committed to improving the quality of life in our towns. We bring together diverse populations of the community to reduce alcohol, tobacco, and other drug or substance abuse. MCSAAC’s goal is to promote community-based substance abuse prevention programs throughout Middlesex County. MCSAAC accomplishes this by supporting the efforts of 11 Local Prevention Councils and 13 Youth Leadership Councils across the County.
Middletown Small Business Development Center
Thanks to a strong partnership between the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Middletown, The Middletown Small Business Development Center provides one-on-one business counseling and entrepreneurial educational opportunities to prospective business owners. This program is for Middletown residents or individuals looking to start a business in the City of Middletown.
Side Street to Main Street Business and Leadership Development Program
Sponsored by Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce, funded by Aetna, Inc., and facilitated by The Essex Group, Side Street to Main Street is a one year long entrepreneurial, business and leadership development program designed to assist minority small business owners in the community, who have not had formal business training, to become more successful by developing the attitudes, skills and qualities necessary for effective business ownership and success, taking them from the Side Street to the Main Street of the business community. Since the inception of the program in 1997, over 170 people have graduated from the Side Street to Main Street Business & Leadership Development Program, and it has been a successful and effective way in which we have encouraged the development and growth of small, minority-owned businesses in Middlesex County.

Workforce Alliance, through its Board Members, Committees and Staff, works to improve the delivery of workforce services in close collaboration with business, education and training providers, and local elected officials. Workforce Alliance serves the public through its three CTWorks Career Centers, and is committed to workforce development throughout its thirty town service area.
